Ha, ha, ha, do I have your attention??? We started our day with bagels from Naval Bagels. If you guessed that Jerome had the colorful one, you’re right! This was a day full of fun, new friends, history and adventure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After breakfast we met one of my brother’s classmates, Pete McDevitt. What a great guy and wonderful host for our tour around the Naval Academy. You guys might not know, but my father (class of 1959) and my brother (class of 1984) graduated from the Naval Academy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The window John is pointing to was his room at Bancroft Hall. As the only dormitory at the Academy, Bancroft Hall can accommodate over 4,000 Midshipmen. We learned that a huge renovation just started that is to last about 18 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the Naval Academy Chapel where our parents (John and Mary Glaeser) were married on June 4th, 1959, the week after dad graduated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pete not only took us around the Academy, he took us around the capitol complex, took us to his house (the gardens in his backyard were just stunning) and hosted lunch for us at his marina. To top the day off, he took us sailing. What a treat for all of us, but mostly Jerome who got to captain the sailboat and he did great. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I told you Pete’s yard was stunning. It’s beautiful and peaceful with the Academy Chapel in the background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You know the drill, what’s for dessert after dinner??? Of course the Maryland state dessert, Smith Island Cake! Four forks and we each got a dollop of whip cream. It was definitely a memorable day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
