We started the day by having breakfast at Miss Shirley’s Cafe. It’s an award winning restaurant and has been on quite a few television shows. I’ll get my food picture out of the way early today; I got the cinnamon waffles with a cream cheese topping. I’m surprised there wasn’t a coma in my future, ha ha. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After breakfast we went for a walk and found ourselves at the Baltimore Visitors Center. We learned that there are free bus services throughout the city. We take the “Banner” line to Fort McHenry on the outskirts of town. It’s the only National Park with the designation of a Historic Shrine. After looking up the definition of shrine, I believe it might be because we herald the “Star Spangled Banner” as a national relic. Fort McHenry has a rich history, worth reviewing online or, even better, in person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not the first time we’ve seen the courage and bravery of Harriet Tubman on the Chesapeake. The picture above describes one, of many, journeys she made to help slaves escape captivity, and in this case reunite a family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doug and Jerome saw this pirate ship go by the marina several times tonight. Looks like a swashbuckling good time!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Time to find some supper and hit the sack. I think we’re all tired today. Even though we rode the bus a bit today, I think we still got in over 5 miles today. It was good to be out in the sun today!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
