Okay, remember the cute little lighthouse from yesterday? Well that’s the same lighthouse in the background, that’s about as far as we could see this morning. Boy was it foggy and a little spooky out there. We could hear boats in harbor but couldn’t see any of them!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a quick trip to a marine parts store for some things; and after waiting out the rain (grrrr), we rode the scooters to Sunset Beach. It’s about 4 miles, but on the scooters it was an easy 15-20 minute ride. This is a free beach (apparently you have to pay for the other beach, $10\/person) and we saw the concrete ship Atlantus. Apparently they were a thing back in the early 1900’s. Glad that idea didn’t take off. Anyhow, the Atlantus broke her moorings in a storm and went aground in 1926. What you see in the picture is all that’s left.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another thing to do at Sunset Beach is to walk the shore and find “Cape May Diamonds.” Based on research and the feedback from the gift shop I have a small haul of them in the bag above. Apparently if I put them in my tumbler with fine grit they will polish up and be transparent. If they’re big enough, they can be cut and made into jewelry that look like diamonds. Something fun to try when we get home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So this is the hugest lobster I’ve ever seen. They had it at the restaurant we ate at this evening. If you guessed the Lobster House (lunch yesterday) then you would be correct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s Restaurant Week here at Cape May and the restaurants that participate have a special menu. At the Lobster House you picked an appetizer, main course (includes roasted potatoes, corn and a salad) and dessert. Doug had lobster bisque, lobster stuffed flounder and chocolate moose. I had shrimp cocktail, broiled lobster and cheesecake. We are beyond full (again), might not eat for a couple of days. Nah, we’ll overeat again tomorrow, ha ha ha. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The weather is looking iffy for Monday. We’ll make a decision tomorrow if we stay here or try to make it to Atlantic City, stay tuned.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
