It’s looking like a really pretty day today, the sun is supposed to shine all day. So what do we do??? We wash the boat. But, there is some fun to be had today. We get downtown, lock up the scooters and get on a trolley (they look lonely don’t they??). The ride through town gives highlights of the Cape May area. Cape May was named after the dutch sea captain Cornelius Jacobsen Mey. A misspelling on paperwork changed Mey to May. The largest festival on the island is the Lima Bean Festival (not a fan, ha ha). It boasts a population around 3,000 and is a whopping 9.8 feet above sea level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We see all sorts of things on the trolley ride. The Victorian homes in Cape May are just stunning. The architecture is beautiful and most of the homes are privately owned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trolley takes us out to the beach to see the cement ship again. They have a picture of the ship more fully intact, it looks like it was a pretty big boat. We drive by the Cape May Lighthouse. 199 steps will get you to the top. We might give that a try in the coming days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the tour, we drove by the memorial to fishermen lost at sea. What a moving place, the statue of the mom and her children was so touching and sorrowful. They face the sea waiting and hoping for their loved one to return. We saw it from the trolley and stopped by in person on the way back to the boat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We get back to the boat and take some time to relax on the back of the boat. Even CJ got in on the action and napped with his stingray.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have dinner with our good friends Tom and Val. There seems to be a bit of carnage on the table. We all got seafood and it was delicious. A really good end to the day, dinner and fun conversation with friends.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
