We leave to get to New York today, but not before getting a look at the draw bridge that went up and down all night. To be fair, I was pretty tired and didn’t pay it much attention after the 3rd or 4th alert that the bridge was changing positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fog has lifted and we set off for our 4ish hour travel north. Probably the most stressful part of the day was getting out of the Manasquan Inlet. Sheesh, they must have the best fishing in the world in the MIDDLE of the channel. It’s not very wide and everyone wanted to fish right in the center, even the little guy in the kayak, grrrrrr. Anyhow, of we go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We did go through about 2 hours of fog, but we got through it just fine. The sun came out and it was a delightful rest of our trip. The entrance to New York Harbor is marked by the Verrizzano-Narrows Bridge. It’s a double decker bridge with cars going every which way. Measuring the bridges main span, the Verrizzano is the longest suspension bridge in the United States. I had to look it up, the measurement of the main span is the longest distance between two spans. The Verrizzano bridge has a central span of 4,260 feet<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s not long before we see the city and the Statue of Liberty. It’s quite a sight. We wondered what immigrants must have been thinking when they saw Lady Liberty for the first time. I love our country and how blessed we are as a nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We get docked and checked in and go for a walk. The marina is right across from Manhattan, a great view. Can you find our boat in the marina? Ha ha ha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s a couple of restaurants right by the marina. No surprise it’s expensive, but boy was it good. I got the lobster carbonara and Doug gets the seafood alfredo. We each eat half and then trade, yummy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We go for a walk after dinner to enjoy the Manhattan skyline. We’ll stay here for a few days and then head up the Hudson.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
