Baltimore – seeing the sights

Sorry for the delay, but yesterday was a really fun day and a busy one. We started with breakfast on the walkway by the boat. The marina has nice tables and chairs by each slip, it made for a perfect start to the day. On our way to see the sights we passed an ice cream shop that had a giant crab outside. Jerome looks small-ish by comparison.

We took the free bus to the Museum of Industry. There is a lot to see and learn. The marina is across the harbor from the plant and we have a clear view of the Domino Sugars sign. Raw sugar is brought in from Louisiana and refined into consumer grade sugar here. When the wind is right, there is a hint of molasses in the air.

Doug is helping Jerome understand how an engine works. A little bit of fun and a little bit of insider gear head from Grandpa.

This rather large bronze head of Fredrick Douglass is on the waterfront. Not funny, but pretty funny; Jerome sees it and he runs over, shoves his fist in his nose, pulls it out. With all sincerity he declares “There’s no gold in there!” Oh to be 8 again, ha ha ha.

Jessica and Tim got here around 6:30 and after they get unloaded, we head to Little Italy for dinner. The food is authentic and really good. Another good day and it’s fun to have family on board for a couple of days.
