We went through another 6 locks today. Here’s my favorite locking guy. He’s been my rock during all of the new things we’ve done and experienced. I’m learning that I’m a more anxious person than I thought and Doug is great at encouraging me and keeping me grounded.

We see some interesting things on the river today. We saw all sorts of styles for the blowup bouncy things, but the knock off in the picture takes the cake. We both looked at each other and said “Hold my beer!” Ha ha ha.

We saw this sea plane fly over us and it looked like it was going to land. After lock 9 we see the plane taxi into this guys yard! How fun is that?

We experienced something new today in the lock. We “rafted” to our friends boat. Rafting is when you tie off your boat to the one next to you and you act as one boat. You would do this when there isn’t room to line up in the lock single file. It was very intimidating but our friends on Miss Peaches had done it before and were really helpful walking us through it. We rafted with them through the last 4 locks. CJ is supervising too!

We get tied up and walk around the area a bit. The “marina” is part of a park and there is a festival going on with food and live bands. In the middle of the park is a huge monument showing the Canadian 2 dollar coin called a toonie. Guess what the 1 dollar coin is called? The Rotary Club is hosting the event and we get hot dogs for dinner to support their cause. The hot dog was surprisingly good.

Here we are docked at the park; from right to left we have Unbridled, The Lucky Dog and Miss Peaches. See the giant toonie in the back?
From the AI overview; Campbellford, Ontario, is named after Lieutenant Colonel Robert Campbell and his brother, Major David Campbell. They were early settlers in the area, receiving crown grants and purchasing land in the Township of Seymour on the Trent River in the early 1830s. I’ll have to ask my good friend who has the last name of Campbell if there is any relation?
It was a good day. Tomorrow we will try to get to Hastings, Ontario then Peterborough, Ontario. We are thinking about staying in Peterborough for a couple of days.
