Yesterday was a hot and long day so we decided to stay here for the day. We slept in, had cereal for breakfast then took CJ for a nice long walk. Along the walk we see these kids on a bridge cooling off.
You know what happens next, jump!! They had to be local boys because we thought this guy was going to break his legs in the shallow water. There were 3 of them and they all said where they were jumping was at least 20 feet deep.

Mid air correction.

The perfect spalsh down! They said the water was refreshing and all them were having a ball. It reminds me of a simpler time with ordinary things to entertain. These kids have the right idea.

We’ll go through 44 locks on the Trent-Severn Waterway and we saw this picture on our walk this morning. Hope this helps explain how they work. Doug did some research and found out that the lock system has been declared a National Historic Site so they can be maintained, but never upgraded. Guess that keeps the historical significance, which is pretty cool.

In the afternoon we decide to take the scooters to Lakefield, the “largest” town close to the marina. It was quite a ride, about 30 minutes and we pass this cool sign. It is a College School which is a private boarding institution. The students attend this school after graduating high school with the hopes of getting career training that earn diplomas and certificates instead of degrees. Mayors, councilmen, comedians and even royalty have gone to this school.
I didn’t get a picture of dinner tonight, which is really too bad. Doug made kielbasa and veggies on the boat. It was a welcome treat to eat on the boat. We liked it so much, we may even try it tomorrow, ha ha. We’re ready to move on, so we are leaving in the morning hoping to make it to Buckhorn or Bobcaygeon.
