Today is the big day when The Lucky Dog crew crosses lake Ontario. They left Trenton really early knowing that the wind and waves were going to be tough. As you can see from the picture, the waves were, as my good friend Val says, very “sporty” with some of them coming over the bow!

Check out this sailboat taking on the tanker! Brave move captain, brave move.

You can see the white caps and in the words of John; “The little mini lighthouse is actually a beacon, the last bit of land on the eastern side as we traveled south – that’s Point Traverse Light Beacon Station… thank you for the visit Canada!”

As they crossed the border into America, the winds and waves died down. So they picked up some speed and it wasn’t too long before they saw Oswego! Welcome home guys! Oh, John said he used y’all a couple of times in Canada while chatting with the lock masters. He said he was met with crickets chirping and blank stares. Guess they don’t know the southern lingo, eh??

After getting checked in and settled it was time head out for a real sit-down dinner with all the trimmings. They went to Steamers and they both got meat; a Delmonico steak for Captain Doug and a filet for first mate John.
Hopefully they can get some good sleep and then it’s off again early in the morning to get to Winter Harbor marina.
