Proper training before going on your mission trip will result in a successful mission trip.

Training Methodology – Training Equals Success!

Step 1. Pray!

Caring for the world starts with our relationship with God through prayer with His Son.

Prayer changes lives.  Prayer draws us closer to a loving Father and Creator who has poured out His love on all humanity.  In prayer, we find His personal message for us, we find guidance for life from Him.  Prayer leads us to focus our time and attention on what Jesus called the great commandment. Namely, we are to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind;” and to “love your neighbor as yourself.”

Have you been praying for a place for God to use your gifts in the Mission Field? Have you or your church been looking for a place to take groups to spread the gospel as well as change the lives of the people who go?  Do you wonder why Jesus used short term missions to train his followers?

As a non-profit organization, 1•2•4 Project encourages you to prayerfully consider allowing us to help you plan your next mission trip. We are an organization of committed Christians who are dedicated to reaching the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We work with missionaries around the globe to help spread the gospel message to the local populace by serving in practical ways.

If you have a willing heart and a servant’s attitude, then we have the place for you to serve.

Step 2. Train!

Training is essential for effective ministry, no matter where you go, no matter what you do.  We see this in scripture; you’ve seen this in life.  When sports teams work together, train together, they succeed together.  Should we do any less with the message of hope?

As a result, we offer many levels and types of training for you individually and with your group. Our experience has confirmed that proper training will increase the level of discipleship within your ministry and increase your effectiveness on the trip.  Types of training include:

  • Team Leader development (preparing you to lead a group into the ministry field)
  • Team Building techniques (fun filled, challenging games and activities that pull your group together)
  • Ministry project preparation (practice at home what you envision doing on the ministry field)

Our Leader Training and Team Training cover at least the following topics:

  • individual spiritual preparation
  • evangelism
  • team building
  • cultural diversity
  • conflict resolution
  • trip logistics
  • fund raising
  • effective communication
  • travel awareness and safety
  • project preparation and ministry goals

Step 3. Serve!

“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

What skills and life experience do you and your group have right now?  Where are you using those skills now in your local community?
How do you know what needs to be done in a place you have never been?

As an organization, the leadership of 1•2•4 Project has 80 years of service in short term missions, traveling to more than 10 countries. We know our skill set and we desire to help you.  Are you ready to step out and serve others? We at 1•2•4 Project are ready to serve you and your group to design a successful trip. We would enjoy the opportunity to speak with you about serving Christ and His Kingdom.

Serving locally or globally, your missions work will change the lives of the people you are serving as well as disciplining those on your team.  But where do you start serving others?  Come with us, we will show you what God has shown us. Here are a few examples:

  • Eyeglass clinic providing new glasses matched to the person’s prescription
  • Family portraits, printed onsite and given to each person
  • Children’s programs giving the gospel message and life lessons taught in fun, creative ways
  • Verbal and non-verbal dramas that present the gospel and life lessons
  • Individual and group oriented evangelism for sharing the good news of Christ
  • Construction projects where skilled individuals lead and the unskilled follow
  • Mercy ministries that meet the physical needs of the community

Step 4. Go!

“Whatever your involvement, missions are an important part of spreading the good news about Jesus Christ.”

Not sure where God is calling you to go? Wondering if you and your group can possibly be effective in some new place far away from home? Worried that you don’t know the customs and culture of the location where you are going?

1•2•4 Project can help your mission be successful!

We currently have ongoing partnerships with missionaries in several countries.  We understand the logistics and headaches that can arise while traveling. We will help prepare you for the trip so that it will be effective and positive for the people you are going to serve.

So, before you “Go!”, make time to pray; take time to train yourself and your team; spend time serving others in your local community so you will be prepared to serve others.  Then, in your going, you will be able to prepare the way for Christ (Luke 10:1-3).
