So, we did some driving today, from Croton-on-the-Hudson, NY to Waterford, CT. It sounds like a really long way, but it was only about 2 1/2 hours. It was a necessary trip since our “house batteries” no longer held a charge. What are house batteries? I’m glad you asked, let me check with Doug. These are the batteries that run all the systems on the boat other than the engines (lights, fans, fridge, lots of important stuff). What a circus at the boat shop, but we did get them and they are installed, yay us!

For my friends that are/were in the energy business we passed the Santa Energy utility. Acutally it’s a pretty nice success story. Here’s what their web site says: “Santa Energy is a classic family-business success story that began in 1940 with Stephen and Madelyn Santa with one fuel truck, which they parked outside their Stratford home.
As the Santas’ sons grew up, they went to work in the family business. In 1959, the company moved out of the family home and into a Bridgeport office that Stephen and Madelyn bought. Santa Energy remains headquartered there today, with a service area encompassing all of Fairfield County.”
Don’t you think the logo looks a lot like a Santa hat??? And get this, they have a tank farm and guess what one of them was named??? If you guessed “Ho Ho” you’d be right. How fun is that?!

Because we were in a hurry to get to the store before they closed, we skipped lunch. I almost ate all of my dinner before I remembered the picture, ha ha. We both had a hankering for Cracker Barrel and we both got the chicken fried chicken. That meal never disappoints.

A couple of looper friends came over to help Doug get the old batteries out and the new ones in. They are the gray rectangles way down in the bottom of the engine room. We used dock lines to raise and lower them and they each weigh about 90 pounds. It took all three of them to get the job done. But, they are in and that job is done.

Our last sunset at Half Moon Bay. We’ll be onward to Hyde Park, NY in the morning. Not sure if we’ll stay there one or two nights, so stay tuned.
Also, the question from yesterday about the stuffed thing in the tree? I think my brother hit the nail on the head. It’s a Buzz Lightyear happy meal prize from 2017! Thanks John!!
