What trip would be complete without some ice cream! We’ve done a really good job on our to-do list while here but we also have had some fun. After doing some chores (huge groan!) we hop on the scooters in search of lunch and a grocery store. We know where Wal Mart is and on the way there, we pass an Italian place. We stop and split a huge piece of lasagna. After lunch and our Wal Mart trip we stop for some ice cream.

On the way back to the boat we see an airport and right behind it is the Empire State Aerosciences Museum. We take our stuff back to the boat and head back to the museum. Boy does it have a lot of interesting things in it. Above you’ll see everything you’d want to know about turbines and sound barriers. Maybe not to you, but for us it was really interesting.

They have a C130 on display and we had to go see it. My cousin flew these while he was in the Air Force; a big and versatile plane.

They have a huge replica of the Japanese air craft carrier Akagi. This model was used in the filming of the Hollywood production Tora, Tora, Tora.

The most exciting thing for me was finding an S2 on display. My Dad flew S2’s when he was in the Navy. This particular aircraft was on the USS Intrepid, which Dad was also on. I can’t help but wonder if Dad flew this plane or knew the pilot who did.

We get back to the boat and have dinner. Tonight is roasted turkey and corn. Yummy!!

Tonight is fireworks night and they light them off of a barge on the river. It’s a really good show and the reflection in the water is really pretty.
We are getting back out on the water tomorrow, hope to make it somewhere around Ilion.
